Name: Meleah Ellison
Title: 5th - 8th grade School Counselor
Education and Experience: I am a graduate of UNC Greensboro (undergraduate), Wake Forest (Masters) and Northeastern (Doctorate). I have experience as a teacher and a counselor at both the elementary and middle school level. Before moving to Charlotte, I also worked in higher education and grief and bereavement counseling with adults and children.
How I help scholars and families: I provide support, guidance and a listening ear to scholars who want to address academic, social and/or emotional areas of their life. I respond when there is a crisis in the school, home, and/or community. I help scholars identify personal strengths and areas for improvement. I assist family with locating needed community supports and opportunities. One of my favorite aspects of the work I do is helping 8th graders prepare for a successful transition to high school.
Why I am passionate about the work I do: I believe every scholar has something beautiful and wonderful to offer. I am passionate about helping each scholar figure out the unique way that he/she can make a positive impact in their family, community, nation and world.
A quote that inspires me: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader" - JQ Adams
Outside of work, you will find me: spending time with my family, traveling to new places and exploring Charlotte.
Here’s how to contact me: [email protected] or via telephone at 980.343.6018 (Ashley Park main line)
